GHP is ISO/TS 16949 2002 Certified / ISO 14001 Registered. We continue to provide our customers with the
latest in plastic technology from part conception and design, to raw material and decoration selections.
Grand Haven Plastics is committed to maintaining its position on the leading edge of the industry.
Product traceability has also evolved over the years at GHP. By initiating a computerized bar code tracking system,
Grand Haven Plastics offers its own quality department and its customers complete part traceability
from raw material to finished product. The tracking system also allows individual records of quality
to be kept on each job. Complete Statistical Process Control(SPC) is also used in all phases of manufacturing.
Quality Standards and Practices At Grand Haven Plastics
Cross-Functional Teams
A committee made up of individuals from each department to oversee and double check
the process of a product from start to finish.
Problem Solving
A disciplined approach to finding problems and root cause analysis.
Process Flow
A flowchart or plan of action for a process from development to end product.
FMEA
Failure Mode and Effects Analysis is a powerful pro-active engineering quality method
that helps you to identify and react appropriately to weak points in the early conception phase of products and processes.
The structured approach makes it easy to use and even for non-specialist a valuable tool. The benefits obtained encompass
by large the investments in time and resources to execute the analysis.
APQP
Advanced Product Quality Planning. GHP's Engineering Department follows a 31-step process
to ensure quality goes into each part before it reaches the manufacturing stage.
MSA
Measurement System Analysis is an experimental and mathematical method of determining
how much the variation within the measurement process contributes to overall process
variability.
8-D Analysis
8D Analysis is a problem-solving methodology for product and process improvement.
It is structured into eight disciplines, emphasizing team synergy. Each discipline of 8D
is supported by a checklist of assessment questions, such as “what is wrong with what”,
“when, where, how much” for D2, problem description. Throughout the problem
solving process, achievements of each discipline are summarized and recorded in an 8D
spreadsheet.
The following are the 8 Disciplines for 8-D:
- D1 - Establish a Team
- D2 - Describe the Problem
- D3 - Develop Interim Containment Action (ICA)
- D4 - Define & Verify Root Cause and Escape Point
- D5 - Choose & Verify Permanent Corrective Actions (PCAs) for Root Cause & Escape Point
- D6 - Implement & Validate Permanent Corrective Actions (PCAs)
- D7 - Prevent Recurrence
- D8 - Recognize Team & Individual Contributions
